Scarlett Johansson once said, “I still eat a burger at a counter with ketchup dripping down my face.” A girl after my own heart!
Anyone who knows me, know’s that I’m a HUGE fan of burgers. There’s nothing quite like a medium/rare cooked beef burger cushioned between a lightly toasted brioche bun. It also needs the perfect amount of tomato relish and fresh lettuce leaves to complete the masterpiece.
Having walked a 5k trail around Alice Holt Forest in Hampshire, we decided to stop on the high street of Farnham and stumbled across The Wheatsheaf.
The grade II listed pub on West Street has a modern feel to the place with an open kitchen and quirky light fixtures. We opted for a seat outside, spritzer in hand, with the sun beating down on us – heaven!
We ordered two of the Wheatsheaf burgers with chunky chips, and boy, we weren’t disappointed. Unashamedly dripping in melted cheddar cheese with all the flavours a burger should have!
What a cross-section!
Needless to say, the burgers were demolished in two seconds flat. I don’t think we even talked during that time other than giving mutual nods of appreciation to one another.
We continued to laze in the warm heat while I tinkered with my camera, snapping a persistent little bee on a lavender pot plant. Colours looks so much more intense in the glorious sunshine, a photographer’s dream!
Overall, a solid 8 out of 10 in burger satisfaction. Let the quest continue…
