With British Summer Time in full swing, there’s nothing better than grabbing a bite to eat in the sunshine with your friends. I happily give you one of the newest outdoor hotspots in the heart of London’s Battersea Park.
After a refurb during the winter, Pear Tree Café has been brought to life by Annabel Partridge and Will Burrett who met while working at Petersham Nurseries (another Lady Leopard favourite!) I was intrigued one lunchtime and headed down to see what all the fuss was about.
Battersea Park is a short stroll from home for me and I’m forever thankful for its lush green surroundings and pretty gardens. It’s one of my favourite London parks for running with views of the Thames and the twinkling lights of Albert Bridge.
It was much to my delight to hear about this new opening through the powers of social media. Pear Tree Café offers a reduced menu of both light and hearty all-day dishes including smashed avocado on sourdough to their beef burger with chipotle chilli jam. There’s also a healthy breakfast menu with acai bowls and chia pudding with almond milk.
Their avocado dish was well thought out with sprinklings of feta, fresh chilli and slices of horseradish to really accentuate the taste. I had to avo poached egg on top, though!
You can’t beat a Burford Brown, just look at that yolk! I get mine from here.
A message in a bottle! I really liked the print detail.
This place offers plenty of outside seating (great for groups) overlooking the lake and there’s even a bar serving jugs of Pimms, cold beers and soft drinks to save queueing amongst the food orders. Even during its busiest period, there were still benches available.
When you’ve finished up, why not hire a row boat and take in the sights from the water? Tickets can be purchased at the kiosk on the boating dock.
I will definitely head back here with friends, they serve dinner throughout the summer, too! It’s the perfect meeting spot for a jug of Pimms and a good ol’ chinwag. The nearest tube station is Battersea Park, it’s the first over line stop from Victoria Station. Let me know if you make it down!
