Brunch at Coppa Club, Sonning

I’m a firm believer that a good ol’ natter with your friends is good for the soul. With my friend Tara having her baby in just a few weeks time, we headed to the beautiful riverside scenery of Sonning in Berkshire for some much needed girl time at Coppa Club.

Despite the poor form in weather (hello British Summer!) we found a table inside overlooking the passing boats on the River Thames.

The Grade II listed former Elizabethan coaching inn which is now home to Coppa Club offers a spacious interior with a warm and inviting atmosphere. We took to our table and ordered a strawberry lemonade and a glass of rosé before diving into the trials and tribulations of impending motherhood.

I went for the fresh crab linguine with capers, chilli and cherry tomatoes and Tara opted for the classic “Coppa Club” margarita pizza.

We devoured our food and continued our chats about various life dilemmas and recent goings on.

After treating ourselves to a couple of mini butterscotch pots with salted caramel sauce (my word, they were sooo good!) we decided to take a stroll along the river. We fancied our chances of seeing Mr and Mrs Clooney considering they live in a rather large mansion on the opposite side of the river but any hopes of friendly exchanges on the river banks were sadly unsuccessful.

Sonning and Henley-on-Thames (which is just down the road) are pretty as a picture. They’re some of the most quintessentially English places that England has to offer.

Did you know that all swans in England are the property of Queen Elizabeth? Amazing pub fact for you, there!
