La Bambula, Javea

As the sun went down on another beautiful day in the Spanish coastal town of Javea, we ventured out to the lively Arenal Beach which is home to a plethora of restaurants, cocktail bars and bargain shopping stalls.

The Arenal is one of the few sandy beaches on the Costa Blanca and it’s easy to see why people come from afar to spend their time here. Along the beach runs a pedestrianised promenade lined with pretty restaurants and cocktail bars. You’ll never be short of food options along here – French, Cantonese, Spanish, Mexican – whatever takes your fancy.

We booked a table at the latest restaurant to open its doors along the Arenal, La Bambula. A sister restaurant to one of my favourite beach bars {read my post on La Siesta here} it has a similar buzz, jaw-dropping views and the impressive interior to match.

Split across two floors, the interior of La Bambula is an Instagrammer’s dream. Orange and cream colour palettes with brush copper finishings and suspended lights that twinkle in the evening breeze. The views from the upper deck (make sure you reserve a table in advance!) look across the ocean and up towards the Montgo.

La Bambula has a french twist to its menu but serves all the regulars including tapas, fish and burgers. The restaurant itself is huge with an open terrace at the back and two bars across the floors.

Refreshingly simple, the Iberian Ham was served with bread and tomato. It was more than enough to share between two.

My obsession with sushi continued (strange because you’ll rarely catch me eating it at home) so I ordered the “Tabla de Sushi de Creación” complete with sashimi. G ordered the grilled sole with garlic oil and lime which tasted wonderful.

To finish off the meal, we had a couple of scoops of ice cream. The salted caramel blew our minds (the vanilla not so much).

The more time I spend in Javea, the more I fall in love. Its charm, viewpoints and cuisine are far superior to most tourist hotspots along the Spanish coast. If you haven’t looked it up yet, make sure you do!
